“Creation” Community Photography Competition
Terms & Conditions
1. Eligibility
-
The competition is open to:
-
School-age entrants - secondary pupils.
-
Over‑18 entrants (school leavers and adult community members).
-
Digital photography students enrolled at Ayrshire College courses.
-

Entrants must be amateur photographers. Professional photographers, or anyone who earns income from photography, is not eligible.
-
Entrants must live, study, or work within the local community area defined by the organisers:
-
Residents within Kilmarnock and immediate surrounding area (KA1, KA2, KA3 and KA4) OR
-
Enrolled student at Ayrshire College digital photography course
-
2. Entry Requirements
-
Each entrant may submit up to 2 photographs.
-
All entries must be the original work of the entrant.
-
Images must be submitted in digital format (JPEG/PNG), high enough resolution for print (minimum recommended: 300 dpi).
-
Photographs must not contain:
-
Offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate content.
-
Copyrighted material.
-
If identifiable people appear in the photograph, the entrant must have obtained permission from those individuals (or a parent/guardian for minors).
3. Themes & Categories
-
Entries must relate to the competition theme: Creation
-
Judging will take place in the following categories:
-
School-age category
-
Over‑18 category.
-
4. Submission Process
-
Entries must be submitted by Friday 26th April 2026 via Photography Competition | New Laigh Kirk
-
Late entries cannot be accepted.
-
By submitting an entry, entrants confirm that all information provided is accurate.
5. Judging
-
A panel of judges appointed by the organisers will review all eligible entries.
-
Judging criteria may include creativity, composition, originality, and relevance to the theme.
-
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
6. Winners & Prizes
-
12 winning images across both categories will be selected to feature in the 2027 New Laigh Kirk fundraising Calendar for renovations to the sanctuary.
-
Additional prizes will be awarded at the organisers’ discretion to overall winners in each category:

Winners will be notified by 22nd May and prizes awarded by New Laigh Kirk.
7. Rights & Usage

Entrants retain full copyright to their photographs.

By entering the competition, entrants grant the organisers a non‑exclusive, royalty‑free licence to:
-
Reproduce the images in the community calendar.
-
Display the images in exhibitions, promotional materials, social media, and local press relating to the competition.
-

Images will always be credited to the photographer where reasonably possible.
8. Data Protection
-
Personal information provided during entry will be used solely for the administration of the competition.
-
Contact details will not be shared with third parties except where required for prize distribution or publication credit.
9. Safeguarding (for school-age entrants)
-
Entrants under 18 must have permission from a parent/guardian or school representative to participate.
-
No personal details of minors will be published without explicit consent.

The organisers reserve the right to disqualify entries that:
-
Breach these Terms & Conditions.
-
Are found to be plagiarised or manipulated in a misleading way.
-
Contain inappropriate or unsafe content.

11. Amendments & Cancellation

The organisers reserve the right to amend the competition rules or cancel the competition if necessary. Any changes will be communicated promptly.
12. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an entry, entrants confirm they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
